It is so that the Downtown area will not only be a conducive place for work, but also a vibrant location to live and play in. Better connectivity to the rest of Singapore and an enhanced public realm will also assist to anchor its position as an ever-changing 24/7 downtown and global financial core.

CBD changes to mixed use in detail

Key Areas Of Revitalisation Include:

Cecil: City Arcades

Tapping on the attraction of Downtown living with its convenience and connectedness, more hotels, residences and other uses will be introduced into the Downtown area. The Cecil precinct, being near current residential hubs, already enjoy close proximity to numerous amenities like markets, hawker centres, community and social facilities. Cecil is ideal to transform into a lively urban neighbourhood that supports the best of city living.

Anson: Streets & Squares

Another precinct with existing residential zones is Anson, located adjacent to mature residential areas in Tanjong Pagar and Everton. The area is ready to change into a new urban neighbourhood with a collection of cosy squares and attractive streets.

Streetscape improvements along main streets will create more mobility-friendly, inviting and greener streets, connecting the Rail Corridor to the CBD. Eateries, shops, and amenities will line these key streets, perfect for those who need to run a quick errand or grab a coffee on the way home from work. Pockets of open space and courtyards will serve as open air ‘living rooms’ for communities to congregate. Some of these will be spaces for outdoor events, while others are a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of work, like the lower levels of One Bernam.
